Arizona’s only lit golf course is currently under construction and slated to open in early 2024. Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills is ushering in a new era of golf just a few short miles from Arizona State University and Old Town Scottsdale. The $15 million dollars course renovations began on July 1st, 2023 after the City of Tempe agreed to a 30-year partnership for Grass Clippings to operate the city-owned golf course. Scottsdale-based Troon will be helping manage the golf and hospitality operations at the renovated executive course.
The project is currently underway with newly designed holes by Jackson Khan, a revamped agronomy crew including the Superintendent they hired from TPC Scottsdale, a covered driving range that will include TopTracer technology, and a new clubhouse that will host live music every weekend.
Grass Clippings is taking a step to eliminate some of the stereotypes associated with golf as the dress code is casual, music is highly recommended (or can be heard on the course-wide speakers) and groups larger than the standard foursome are encouraged. Be sure to add Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills to your list of places to play on your trip, it’s a great spot to dial in the wedges or have a few cold drinks playing with only 3-clubs with your crew.
